The annual conference is a key date in the ALERC calendar. As well as providing an interesting and topical programme of speakers it gives all LERC staff the opportunity to meet up with colleagues from across the country to discuss all the latest developments within the LERC sector and beyond.
Conference 2019: Are You Being Served? The 2019 ALERC Conference took place at the BVSC in Birmingham on 16th October and looked at the services LERCs provide to partners.
In the morning we heard from LERCs and their partners on how data services assist organisations in meeting their environmental obligations. There was also the usual soapbox sessions, which covered a range of subjects within the the broader conference theme of LERC services. The afternoon was again divided between a large group discussion and smaller breakout sessions, running simultaneously. The topic for discussion was the ALERC strategy 2020 - 2025 and was a chance to review the current strategy, assess how well its targets have been met and start to plan for the next five years. Amongst other things, we discussed how ALERC can support its members in providing the best possible services to clients. |

Afternoon Discussion - The Good Life
The ALERC strategic plan 2015-20 set out the steps needed for ALERC to become a self-sustaining organisation with a member of staff. Now is the time to assess progress against the targets in the plan, and start the process of creating a new plan for 2020-2015. As technology and policies change, we need to make sure that ALERC is able to continually support LERCs to meet
the needs of current and new partners. This session was a chance for ALERC members to discuss how we do this, and what shape a new ALERC strategy should take.
